This year we will focus on trash, invasive plant and graffiti removal. The river and canyons are in need of a deep cleaning after such a busy summer recreation season.
Volunteers should wear sturdy shoes and bring work gloves, a hat, sunscreen, and a filled water bottle. Additional water will be available. Volunteers will receive cleanup supplies a complimentary Auburn SRA Trails Map and packet of CA poppy seeds to scatter in the canyon. Free volunteer parking at the Confluence till noon. Volunteers under 18 are welcome, but must have adult supervision, and their liability releases must be signed by a parent or legal guardian.
The American River Cleanup is usually a part of the annual Great Sierra River Cleanup, sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy, but events are being held separately this year because of Covid-19. Due to the pandemic, we are requiring all volunteers to follow mask and social distancing protocols.
