The City of Auburn has taken a possitve step forward for sustainable land development. They have started to update the rules that guide infill projects in Auburn’s Commercial Core. We’ve been saying for years that we would like to see infill development in our community instead of green-field development. Now we have an infill opportunity, and as environmentalists, we should be there to encourage and elevate it’s sustainability component. When infill is done right, it incentivises the reuse of existing buildings and reduces VMT per capita and household emissions. With our help, Auburn could become a case study of a sustainable town in Placer County!
