The City of Auburn has taken a possitve step forward for sustainable land development. They have started to update the rules that guide infill projects in Auburn’s Commercial Core. We’ve been saying for years that we would like to see infill development in our community instead of green-field development. Now we have an infill opportunity, and as environmentalists, we should be there to encourage and elevate it’s sustainability component. When infill is done right, it incentivises the reuse of existing buildings and reduces VMT per capita and household emissions. With our help, Auburn could become a case study of a sustainable town in Placer County!
Please take a few minutes to assist the project team, Imagine Auburn, by taking their survey. The purpose of the survey is to feel out the community’s point of view and identify key topics for focus groups. AEL Memebers Genevieve, Mike, and Mariana are on the project team.
This is an opportunity to make sustainability a key feature of Auburn’s Commerical Core going forward!
